Log Entry 11477 [Missing]

Malarky is missing. Sometime around 11 pm he was last seen heading down to the salvaged Angelica as usual. He could be heard muttering something underneath his breath, but the words were unclear. Captain Callaway couldn't help but scoff at Malarky's absence. Of course he would be absent. It wasn't unusual for him to miss the morning brief, until a crewmate discovered his glasses in the hatch leading to the drainage pipes.


Callaway's voice echoed as he ordered everyone to gather around the den. As another head count was issued, the number once again shrank: two other members were not accounted for. Three people went missing within 24 hours with nothing but ocean for miles around. It was more than enough to final issue a distress signal.


The Atlantic subdivision was about an hour and a half away. Compared to the endless days at sea, the mere hours kept us in the depths of agony as we awaited for contact. We were ordered into pairs for the remainder of our time. My eyes caught sight of Talbot standing off to the side of the room. The same look of the scared boy from those nights ago flashed in my head. Our eyes met and he conveyed everything I needed to know:
